ESSENCE announced today that platinum-selling girl group XSCAPE will be performing at this year’s ESSENCE Festival. This will be their first full performance together in over 15 years and social media has been buzzing all day with excitement.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the return of XSCAPE than in New Orleans with our fans at the world famous, Essence Festival,” the group said in a statement. “Essence Fest is so much more than a music festival, it’s a celebration of culture, music and entertainment. We are excited and honored to be included in an incredible lineup of artists and performers, including the living legend, Diana Ross!”

XSCAPE—Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott—enjoyed global success in the 90s with such hits as “Just Kickin It,” “Understanding,” “My Little Secret,” and “Who Can I Run To.” They were signed to Jermaine Dupri‘s SoSo Def label and helped define the sound of that decade.

Since their reunion earlier this year, the group has teamed up with reality TV guru Mona Scott-Young with plans for a major comeback. TV One is also producing “Who Can I Run To: The Xscape Story,” as part of its new original movies. The film is  inspired by the quartet’s episode of “Unsung,” which was the most popular episode aired in the series’ history. The film is being produced in partnership with Dupri.

Check out one of my favs by them “In the Rain” that was featured on the iconic “Love Jones” soundtrack and click here for your ESSENCE Festival tickets. See you there!
