Legendary dance choreographer and television producer Debbie Allen wants to put Hillman College back on the block.

According to theGrio, Allen recently tweeted about her interview in the new issue of Ebony magazine in which she talks about the 25th anniversary of the ground-breaking sitcom. She also revealed her desire to bring the show back to television and asked her followers for support.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, A Different World was transformed “from a bland Cosby spinoff into a lively, socially responsible, ensemble situation comedy” only after Debbie Allen took over as producer-director following the first season.

A Different World star Jasmine Guy, who played the sassy southern-belle Whitley Gilbert, alluded to this when RC interviewed her back in February:

“Debbie being a graduate of Howard University was like, ‘This is not real Black college life.’ And so, she insisted that the writers come down and visit Historically Black College University’s like Spelman and Morehouse. I mean she made huge creative changes. Debbie also brought flavor to the show like, the frat show…the South African show…the date rape show…the AIDS show. And all of these shows, she had to fight for. So that’s a credit to her.”

A Different World ran for six seasons on NBC from 1987-1993.

What are your thoughts on Allen bringing it back to television?
