Looks like Denzel Washington will be spending more time behind the camera than in front of it.  The Oscar-winning actor just inked a ten year deal with HBO to direct all ten of August Wilson‘s plays including Fences  beginning in 2016. The film adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway play will feature Washington and his co-star, Viola Davis.

According to S&A, Washington has teamed up with the Wilson estate to direct the late playwright’s classic works which focus on African-American life beginning from the 1900’s all the way until 1990’s. Washington made the announcement during a recent Q&A session at USC.

The list of plays include: Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Piano Lesson, Seven Guitars, Fences, Two Trains Running, Jitney, King Hedley II  and Radio Golf.

Congrats and stay tuned!!
