CONGRATS to director Barry Jenkins and the cast of “Moonlight” for winning Best Motion Picture – Drama during Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards. The coming-of-age story about a Black, gay youth growing up in Miami’s inner city beat out “Hell or High Water” and “Manchester by the Sea.”
Other big wins included Viola Davis for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for “Fences” as well as previously announced Tracee Ellis Ross for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for “black-ish” and Donald Glover‘s “Atlanta” for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy and for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical.
Other highlights included Meryl Streep‘s powerful acceptance speech as the recipient for this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award and QuestLove‘s dope sounds throughout the evening.
