Hip-hop star turned actor Donald Glover gave major love to the city of Atlanta, GA Sunday night during his acceptance speech at “The Golden Globe Awards.” His FX series “Atlanta” won for “Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy” and he also picked up the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, beating out “black-ish” star Anthony Anderson and “Transparent” actor Jeffrey Tambor.

“I really want to thank Atlanta and all the Black folks in Atlanta…like for real…like just for being alive and doing just amazing and being amazing people. I couldnt be here without Atlanta” said Glover.

“Atlanta” follows two cousins, with different views on art versus commerce, on their way up through the city’s rap scene; Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks, an ambitious college drop-out (Donald Glover ) and his estranged cousin Alfred ‘Paper Boi’ Miles (Brian Tyree Henry), who suddenly becomes a star. “Atlanta” also features LaKeith Lee Stanfield as Darius and Zazie Beetz as Earn’s girlfriend Van.

Glover is the creator, writer, director, executive producer and star of the show. If you haven’t seen it, you’re totally missing out. It is one helluva show!
