Last spring, we reported that music superstar Deborah Cox was tapped to play the lead in the North American tour of the new musical, “The Bodyguard.” Well, producers of the show have released new dates and the tour will officially  begin on January 10, 2017 in Minneapolis, MN.

“The Bodyguard,” which is currently touring the UK, is based on the classic 1992 romantic thriller starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.  It follows Frank Farmer, a former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, who is hired to protect music superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don’t expect is to fall in love.

The show features a variety of hit songs from the movie including “Queen of the Night,” “I Have Nothing,” and “Run to You” as well as a number of Houston hits like “So Emotional,” “One Moment in Time,” “Saving All My Love,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” and one of the biggest selling songs of all time – “I Will Always Love You.”

This is not the first time Deborah has performed these songs. She was the singing voice for Lifetime’s 2015 Whitney Houston biopic, “WHITNEY!”
