I had the pleasure of talking to rising action film star Shaun Mixon this week about his new movieCall Me King, which runs for a limited engagement beginning this weekend at Movies ATL in Atlanta, GA.

I actually met Mixon in 2013 while attending the So So Def 20th Anniversary Celebration and we’ve stayed in contact ever since. He was literally in the midst of completing the film and was hoping for a premiere in 2014. However, things didn’t work out as planned and the project’s release date was pushed back to this year. But as they say, “good things come to those who wait” and I am so excited that this moment has finally arrived for him and the rest of his cast.

During our 10-minute interview, Mixon and I talked about his character and why he did his own stunts. We also talk about his other projects including his new stage play and his desire to portray civil rights icon, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Enjoy the interview and trailer below and don’t forget to check out Call Me King, this weekend.
