Last month we reported that Tony-nominated actress Condola Rashad had been cast in a modern day version of the William Shakespeare classic, Romeo & Juliet.  Reportedly, The Stick Fly  star is leaving her post with Cicely Tyson in A Trip to Bountiful  to play Juliet to Orlando Bloom’s Romeo in this new mixed-race production directed by David Leveaux.

A steamy image of Rashad and Bloom has emerged dressed in all white as they gaze into each others eyes on a white bed. The alluring photo was shot by Robert Ascroft .

According to the show’s press release, race is only half of the issue between the families.

“While race defines the family lineages, the original cause of the ‘ancient quarrel,’ passed down by successive generations to their young, has been lost to time.”

Romeo & Juliet  also stars American Idol  alum Justin Guaraní and is expected to begin preview performances on Aug. 24 with its official opening night on September 19.

What do you think about the show’s poster?
