Award winning singer-songwriter Mariah Carey has been tapped to write a song for the new upcoming film “Oz The Great and Powerful.”
Disney announced the partnership recently between the film and the American Idol judge. The song is appropriately entitled, “Almost Home.”
“‘Almost Home’ has a message that works beautifully with the film,” Carey said in a release. “It’s a feel-good record; it gives you the feeling of reaching your home and being with people that you love.”
Noted photographer David LaChapelle will direct the video which he calls “a duet between Mariah and the movie.”
“Oz The Great and Powerful” is inspired by the L. Frank Baum classic “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and is set before the 1939 Judy Garland version, “The Wizard of Oz.” The film tells the story of small-time circus magician, Oscar Diggs, who is whisked away to the Land of Oz where he meets three witches, who are not so convinced that he is the Great Wizard everyone has been expecting. The film stars James Franco, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis.
