On September 17, 1983, Vanessa L. Williams made history by becoming the first black woman to win the title of Miss America.

Since that defining moment, Williams has become one of the brightest stars in television and recording-music history. The Broadway veteran has received 15 Grammy-nominations, five NAACP Image Awards, a Tony and Drama Desk Award nomination and is a Billboard Music Award winner.

She is also one of PEOPLE’s 50 Most Beautiful (1993) and has appeared in numerous TV shows including Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and the award winning ABC miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream (1992).

RayCornelius.com salutes Ms. Williams today with some of our favorite music videos of hers.  Take a look!
