Michelle Obama teams up with Live Nation for ‘Becoming’ Tour

Posted by | Ray Cornelius

Former First Lady of the United States of America – MICHELLE OBAMA – is hitting the road this fall to promote her new book Becoming. The 10-city tour will begin in Chicago November 13.

In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

The tour is produced by Live Nation and publisher Penguin Random House. Michelle is also donating 1 million copies to educational non-profit program, First Book.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like she is coming to the south. I don’t see any dates for Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami or New Orleans. Hopefully, she’ll add more cities to the schedule.

  • Nov. 13: Chicago — United Center
  • Nov. 15: Los Angeles — The Forum

‘Queen of YouTube’ Glozell signs books at ATL B&N [PHOTOS]

Written by | Ray Cornelius

“Is you okay? Is you good? Cuz I want to know!” That was the burning question that social media sensation and beloved comedienne GloZell [Green] wanted to know as she greeted fans Wednesday night at one Atlanta-area Barnes & Nobles.

The self-proclaimed “Queen of YouTube” stopped by the Edgewood location to take pictures and sign copies of her new book, Is You Okay? Everyone from toddlers to the elderly stood in line to get up close and personal with GloZell, who sported her signature Shirley Temple curls, Emerald City green cape and sparkling green lipstick. GloZell was also accompanied by her mother Gloria Green, who also rocked her curly locks too.

Is You Okay?  is a fun, inspiring memoir that chronicles GloZell’s meteoric rise from Orlando, Florida to Hollywood, California while gaining throngs of internet fans and followers from around the world with her outlandish videos and YouTube challenges. Never afraid to make a fool of herself, GloZell has laughed all the way to The White House, where she conducted a one-on-one interview with President Barack Obama. She has also appeared on “Dr. Oz,” “20/20,” “ABC News,” MTV, “Steve Harvey Talent Show” and “Showtime at the Apollo.”

GloZell’s slapstick humor has also put her in the ranks of some pretty legendary comediennes such as Whoopi Goldberg, Ellen DeGeneres, Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, Tina Fey and Phyllis Diller. She recently talked to FORBES about her success and shared the following career advice with the magazine’s readers:

1. Follow your passion! As I say that I roll my eyes because everyone says it, but it’s so true! People are scared that they won’t be able to make a living doing what they love, so they live a life criticizing those that do. This is where faith comes in, to be bold enough to try.

2. My next piece of advice is to get educated in the career that you want to go into. For example, the Internet changes all the time and you have to stay current and be willing to learn and relearn new aspects of your field. No matter what career you go into, continuing your education is key.

3. Don’t let competition take over your life. Know that your best is good enough, and that trying to hard to be like someone else is not going to get you very far. Be original and be the best you! I’m rolling my eyes again because that’s said so often, but the longer you live the more you see the truth in it.

Posted by | Ray Cornelius

Reality starlet and R&B diva Keyshia Cole is not a happy camper these days.

According to reports, Cole is very upset about her sister Neffie’s, new book The Price I Paid and went on a Twitter rant.  Apparently the two are at odds and Neffeteria “Neffe” Pugh writes about the strained relationship in her book, to which Keyshia didn’t approve.

“How many of y’all have leaches in your own family? I need to know I’m not alone! B-tch talk about me in ya book and wearing the shoes I gave u on the cover? F-cking Bogus! If it wasn’t for my name, people making money off that alone. They would have the courage to say they just don’t like me. I see I gotta take it back to the days when I used to slap a b-tch tho!”

Neffie responded back peacefully with:

“I am very great full to have wore a pair of shoes for my book cover that was given to me what a blessing:) God is so amazing.  I am also grateful for my supporters and fans family and peers who have bought my book and made sure I know about it. Be blessed and be sure to love someone besides u# because it counts! The Price I Paid? Please remember to remain humble and true to who u r never let the devil win because he’s working hard in these last days. Stay prayed up.”

Let’s hope this sibling rivalry can be squashed privately.  RC will keep you posted as more of this one develops…
