Former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams is starting 2013 off with a bang!
According to Broadway.com, the singing siren is slated to join the national tour of the hit Award-winning Broadway musical FELA! when it opens at The Sidney Harman Hall in Washington, DC on January 29.
“I am thrilled to join the cast of Fela!,” said Michelle Williams. “This musical journey is one that I’ve wanted to be a part of since first seeing it on stage in 2008. The sounds, the passion and the politics of Fela Kuti have long intrigued me and speak to my heart. I am simply honored.”
Williams is no stranger to the stage having appeared in Broadway’s Aida, The Color Purple, Chicago and the urban theatre production of What My Husband Doesn’t Know.
Fela! received three 2010 Tony Awards, including Best Choreography and is presented by “Jay-Z’ Carter, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Babyface, Aretha Franklin and Danja
The “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin is heading back to the studios.
According to The Singer’s Room, Franklin is gearing up to release a new album under Clive Davis’ RCA. She is teaming up with Babyface and Danja, the hot new producer who has been working with R&B neophyte Luke James.
Album details and a release date remain a secret as the two producers are working now to create the album. Franklin’s last project, A Woman Falling Out of Love, was released in 2011 and was followed up by a highly publicize national tour in the spring of 2012.
