Last December, we reported that Ride Along 2 actress, Tika Sumpter was starring as FLOTUS in a new film about her first date with President Obama titled, Southside With You. Well, the film’s production company has released first look photos of Sumpter as a young Michelle Obama alongside with her leading man, Parker Sawyers as Barack H. Obama.
As previously reported, the film started production this month and chronicles the summer 1989 afternoon when the future President of the United States of America, wooed his future First Lady on an epic first date across Chicago’s South Side.
Reportedly, Barack fell for then Michelle Robinson when the two first met at a Chicago law firm. He was a first-year Harvard Law student, who took a job as an associate and she was his much younger boss. After much convincing, Michelle took Barack up on his offer and the two visited the Art Institute, caught Spike Lee’s film, “Do the Right Thing” and shared a curbside kiss in front of Baskin-Robbins in Chicago’s Hyde Park.
The film is taken from Richard Tanne’s screenplay and is being produced by Tracey Bing and Stephanie Allain.
