Sunday afternoon, I had the pleasure of attending the behind-the-scenes video shoot for award winning actress and singer Jasmine Burke. The star of such films as “Ride Along,” “Secret Life of Bees,” “Big Momma’s House,” and “VH1’s Drumline 2” was shooting a visual presentation for her new single, “Skin I’m In (I Love)” which is the title track for the upcoming LisaRaye McCoy directed film, “Skinned.”

The 2015 Pan African Film Festival officially selected drama follows a young woman named Jolie (played by Burke) who bleaches her dark skin in order to feel more beautiful and get a man. However, she soon finds that life doesn’t get easier for her after her skin is lighter. In addition to directing, McCoy also stars as Jolie’s mother and features Van Vicker, Brad James, and Cycerli Ash.  According to the film’s website, “Skinned” is part of a bigger initiative that hopes to make a global impact by bringing awareness to the harmful dangers and side effects of skin bleaching. The goal of the campaign is to also encourage people to “Love the Skin Your In” and say NO to skin bleaching.

Our cameras were allowed to capture footage of the shoot as well as Burke’s own short documentary, “Making @TheJasmineBurke,” which is being produced by her company, Jasmine Burke Productions.

Check out the gorgeous BTS scenes photos below shot by RC.com’s Megan Alodie plus my exclusive, uncut  interview with Burke following the shoot. In the 4-minute clip, the former “Making The Band 3” star talks about writing “Skin I’m In (I Love)” as well as her character in the film and her other projects including the new television series “Bossip TV,” which is based on the popular entertainment website, BOSSIP.
