June is Black Music Month and TV One is celebrating all month long with some dynamic programming that is sure to having you moving and grooving in your living room. The network kick things off tonight (June 3) with the return of one of my favorite shows, UNSUNG. The series debuts at 8 p.m. EST with the story of Ike Turner and continues with Otis Redding (June 10); DJ Quik (June17); Chuck Brown and the Story of Go-Go (June 24); Xscape (July 8) and Kid ‘n Play (July 15).

On July 1, UNSUNG  will revisit the stories of talent previously recognized including Full Force, Zapp & Roger, Sylvester and Miki Howard. Reportedly, the show will uncover how their lives have been affected by the award-winning series.

Other programming highlights include A Genius Leaves the Hood: The Unauthorized Story of Jay-Z  (June 17); Hellobeautiful Interludes Live: Johnny Gill (June 20) and The Gospel Tradition: In Performance at the White House (June 26) featuring performances by Bishop Rance Allen, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Aretha Franklin, Rhiannon Giddens, Darlene Love, Lyle Lovett, Tamela Mann and Michelle Williams. This television special is in partnership with PBS and is presented by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
