Some of the cast members of BET’s popular HBCU series The Quad attended a special advance screening of next week’s episode at Clark Atlanta University Tuesday evening. The viewing took place at the Thomas W. Cole, Jr., Research Center for Science and Technology and was attended by students and fans of the show.
Actors Peyton Alex Smith, Larry Rhem, Sean Blakemore, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Jake Allyn, Zoe Renee and Erica Michelle all talked about their characters and this season’s juicy plots and twists. Other Quad stars in attendance included Tyshon Freeman, Terayle Hill, Miles Stroter and Sergio Joachim. Show creator and executive producer Felicia Henderson served as the evening’s moderator for the post screening Q&A.
This season of The Quad has tackled a myriad of issues including Georgia A&M University’s growing financial crisis as well as fraternity and sorority matters, police brutality and student violence. Henderson says that no subject is off limits and that a number of the scenarios shown throughout the season come from real-life college situations.
While I can’t give too much away about next week’s show, I can say that it’s definitely one that you want to check out as there will be special appearances from two of my TV favorites—Sheryl Lee Ralph and T.C. Carson.“
The Quad follows an ambitious yet troubled Dr. Eva Fletcher (Anika Noni Rose), the newly-elected President of the fictional Georgia A&M University, who is charged with saving the prestigious HBCU from bankruptcy and her twenty-year marriage from crumbling. At the same time, she must manage to repair a tumultuous relationship with her rebellious only daughter (Jazz Raycole) while handling a diverse group of freshman who keep her hands full. It also stars Jasmine Guy, E. Roger Mitchell and Demetria McKinney.
