Check out a sneak peek of the second season of “Donnie After Dark” premiering tomorrow night at 11 p.m. on TV One. The show is hosted by my idol and radio/TV legend Donnie Simpson and features some of the biggest names in music, television and film.
In the premiere episode, Angela Robinson (Veronica Harrington from OWN’s The Have and The Have Nots) talks about the gift and curse of being the villainess everyone loves to hate; Comedian D.C. Young Fly reveals his tried and tested formula for elevating your brand on social media; and Pooch Hall (Ray Donovan, Media) reveals his undercover talent as an amateur boxer and a freestyle rapper. The show also features a sensual performance by musical guest Ro James performing his hit singles “Permission” and “Already Knew That.”
Following the special holiday premiere, “Donnie After Dark” moves to its regular time slot on Sundays at 11 p.m. EST.
Take a look at future episodes:
Sunday, Dec. 4 at 11 p.m. ET
Simpson invites rapper and activist David Banner, spoken word artist Ernestine Johnson and Interactive One VP of News and Men’s Programming Jamilah Lemieux to discuss the pros and cons of the Black Lives Matter movement. Comedian Lil Duval brings the laughs, plus “Empire” singer V. Bozeman delivers a breathtaking performance.
Sunday, Dec. 11 at 11 p.m. ET
Simpson sits down with music mogul and super producer Jermaine Dupri and catches up with the incomparable LisaRaye McCoy. He shares a few laughs with “Survivor’s Remorse” actress Erica Ash and comedian Special K. And don’t miss two unforgettable performances by musical guest, 112.
Sunday, Dec.18 at 11 p.m. ET
Simpson is joined by heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Power star Naturi Naughton stops by, along with the hilariously funny comedian Tony Roberts. Plus, R&B crooner Musiq Soulchild hits the stage.
Simpson, known for his sultry voice, warm smile and piercing green eyes, is the son of a record shop owner. Having been exposed to multiple genres of music, he began his radio career at 15 with WJLB in Detroit, Mich. He relocated to Washington, D.C., where he began working at WRC-TV. Soon after he hosted the groundbreaking “Video Soul,” a music video show on BET, and many other network specials.
Simpson eventually hosted “The Donnie Simpson Morning Show” on WPGC-FM where he continued to captivate listeners for 17 years until his retirement in 2010. In 2015, Simpson returned to radio as the host of “The Donnie Simpson Show” on TV One’s sister property WMMJ-MAJIC 102.3 FM.
