Check out a few first look photos of music superstar Deborah Cox as Rachel Marron in “The Bodyguard.” The Grammy nominated performer is starring in a new North American tour of the musical that is currently previewing at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey. The tour officially kicks January 10, 2017 in Minneapolis, MN.
“The Bodyguard,” is based on the classic 1992 romantic thriller starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. It follows Frank Farmer, a former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, who is hired to protect music superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don’t expect is to fall in love.
The show features a variety of hit songs from the movie including “Queen of the Night,” “I Have Nothing,” and “Run to You” as well as a number of Houston hits like “So Emotional,” “One Moment in Time,” “Saving All My Love,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” and one of the biggest selling songs of all time – “I Will Always Love You.”
This is not the first time Cox has performed these songs. She was the singing voice for Lifetime’s 2015 Whitney Houston biopic, “WHITNEY!” Take a look at this behind-the-scenes video of her in the studio.
