Don Cheadle and Emayatzy Corinealdi lead an all-star cast in “Miles Ahead,” the highly anticipated biopic about jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. The first trailer for the film was released this week and it debuts nationwide during Jazz Appreciation Month on April 1.
“Miles Ahead” is not your typical “birth to death” story and focuses primarily on a time period in the late 70’s when Davis was making a musical comeback after a five-year hiatus. It also takes a closer look at his estranged marriage to Frances Taylor Davis. The film also stars Ewan McGregor, Keith Stanfield, and Michael Stuhlbarg.
“I want to tell a hot story that’s full of his music that feels impressionistic in that it finds a way to incorporate all his musical styles and influences and ideas. It needs to feel like his approach: ‘I don’t care about what happened before. I’m about what’s happening now and about what’s happening next.’ That’s Miles’ marching orders to me,” said Cheadle to Entertainment Weekly.
