As the old saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

ESSENCE is reporting that “Selma” director Ava DuVernay and her film’s leading man, David Oyelowo are teaming up again for a new a love story and a murder mystery centered on Hurricane Katrina.

This would be the third time these two have worked together since “Middle of Nowhere” and “Selma.” According to IW, DuVernay will write, produce, and direct the film while Oyelowo would star in it and serve as one of the film’s producers. He’s currently in negotiations.

“I’m thrilled to reunite with my Participant family on this project and fortunate to work again with the always exquisite David Oyelowo,” says DuVernay to The Hollywood Reporter. “The story we’re interested in will explore the complexities of intimate relationships within times of chaos, while also examining the chaos itself. I’m looking forward to the journey.”
