Contrary to popular belief, Beyoncé is far from perfect!
I know that may be a “blasphemous” statement as far as her Bey-hivers is concerned but even the Queen admits that failure was the best message for her. In a new video message, Beyoncé breaks down how losing on Star Search as a 9-year-old member of her then group, Girls Tyme helped her grow as a person and artist.
“I was only 9-years-old. So at that time you don’t realize that you could actually work super hard and give everything you have and lose. It was the best message for me. When I put Ed McMahon introducing us as the ‘hip hop rapping Girls Tyme,’ it clicked something in my mind,” says Beyoncé.
She goes on to say that recalling that childhood memory gave her the ammunition to create the infamous “Flawless” aka “Bow Down Bitches” song which is featured on her new album, Beyoncé.
“I feel like something about the aggression of “Bow Down’ and the attitude of ‘Flawless’…the reality is, sometimes you lose. And you’re never too good to lose. You’re never too big to lose. You’re never too smart to lose. It happens and it happens when it needs to happen. You have to embrace those things.”
Later on in the video, Beyoncé goes on to discuss feminism and the real message behind her album which she says is “finding the beauty in imperfection.” Check out the full video below and tell us what you think:
