“We’ve endured too many of these tragedies in the past few years. Each time I learn the news; I react not as a president but as anybody else would as a parent”

Those were the words that President Barack Obama said during a press conference he held this afternoon regarding the tragic elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

According to CNN, 20-year old Adam Lanza burst into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown this morning and opened fire; killing 20 children and six adults including the principal and the school’s psychologist.

Lanza, who is believed to have killed himself after the shooting spree, is also responsible for killing his mother Nancy Lanza, who was a teacher at the school and found dead in the suspect’s home in Newtown.  His older brother Ryan Lanza, who at one point was thought to be the alleged suspect, is now in custody with the police for further investigation.

Like many of us, the President was stunned to hear the news of such violence against young and innocent children, many of whom were in kindergarten.  He looked very disturbed and wiped away tears during his emotional speech. Check it out…
