Stage, television and film actress, Loretta Devine has been nominated for her second Emmy Award for her guest performance as “Adele” on Grey’s Anatomy.

The 63-year old, who rose to stardom as “Lorell” in the original stage version of  Dreamgirls, talked to TheGriot, about the possibilities of winning another one but is not sure whether her first Emmy shares the same excitement.

“Well, my Emmy is sleeping with five NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Image Award) boys,” Devine joked, breaking into big laughter. “So, she’s having a good time. She may be mad if somebody else enters the room.”

Devine has played a number of characters throughout her storied career. However, her reoccuring role as an Alzheimer’s patient on Grey’s, is one that still makes her cringe and sometimes sad.

“That particular scene, it was just wrenching for me,” said Devine. “Sometimes when I watch it, I get so sad myself. And I know I’m acting it out, you know?”

In the meantime, Devine will wait to hear from the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on whether she is a winner. If so, she will participate in the primetime ceremony a week later.

Good Luck  to you Ms. Devine!
