TLC’s T-Boz and Chilli stopped by The Wendy William’s Show  on Thursday promoting their new VH1 biopic Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story.  The two ladies, who still hold the record as the most successful girl group of all time, sat down with Wendy to discuss the movie’s soundtrack, 20, their role in casting the film and helping to write the script. T-Boz also took time out to clear the air about the alleged drama between the group and its former manager and R&B singer, Peebles.

“We have no problem with Peebles at all. We did not slander her. This movie is from our perspective of what happened to us. We did not lie and yes, we did not tell everything that could have been told. We kept it clean,” explains T-Boz.

TLC was later joined by the film’s stars, Keke Palmer, Drew Sidora and Lil Mama. Each actress talked about their experience playing the iconic music stars and their eerily personal connection to each singer. Check out the video below as well as photos from their recent NYC premiere and the new super trailer:

David Oyelowo talks about new films and not being afraid of a little controversy…

It may appear that 96 Minutes star David Oyelowo is new on the scene.  However, the British-Nigerian actor has been on his grind for quite some time [14 years to be exact] appearing in such films as The Last King of Scotland, The Help and most recently Red Tails.

Although Hollywood is just taking notice, he credits his recent success to making the right film choices and being a versatile actor.  Oyelowo recently sat down with to discuss his latest film projects including Lee Daniel’s The Butler and why he is not afraid of starring in unconventional movies.

On his recent success…

It feels like a marathon to me but I’ve chosen that path. I turned down a lot of easier opportunities in order to go for the things that I really and ultimately wanted to do. And what’s really nice is that it’s starting to work. I’ve been an actor for coming up on 14 years now and the level of activity that’s taking place now is a culmination of a slow cooker approach to [a career] as opposed to a microwave.

On collaborating with Lee Daniels for The Butler

We start [shooting] The Butler in June and that’s incredibly exciting for me because I get to work with the amazing Forest Whitaker again. It’s a phenomenal script and a great, great role — I play his son. Oprah Winfrey is his wife and my mother. My character is a radical, civil rights activist. I rebel against the profession his father has chosen — a butler who works in the White House from [President Dwight] Eisenhower to [Ronald] Reagan. I become a civil rights leader who’s involved in marches with [Martin Luther] King, moves onto Malcolm X and I become a Black Panther.

On not straying away from “controversial” movies…

We can’t afford to deny our past in a bid to be empowered. But what we can do is contextualize the past. The problem with us and the stories we’re trying to tell is that we get so few opportunities to tell them that the danger comes when we try to cram everything in. The Help sheds light on a certain truth in America, but the tragedy is if we don’t get a chance to contrast it with other points of views. The Butler does that, Red Tails does that and that’s what 96 Minutes does.

The rising actor is starring in a new suspense thriller about four eclectic, young people who are involved in a car-jacking called 96 Minutes. The film is inspired by true events and also stars Brittany Snow (Hairspray), David Oyelowo (Red Tails) and Christian Serratos of the hugely popular Twilight series.

96 Minutes has already received rave reviews and earned Ross a Breakthrough Actor Award at SXSW.

96 Minutes lands in theaters on April 27!

Lela Rochon ‘in’, Stacey Dash ‘out’!

Supremacy is a race-based drama starring Danny Glover, Derek Luke, Evan Ross, Dawn Olivieri and now Lela Rochon (Stacey Dash’s replacement).  The true-life tale, helmed by Deon Taylor, centers on a paroled white supremacist who kills a cop and takes an African American family hostage over a long night of terror as authorities cordon off the neighborhood where he and his lady accomplice are laying low.

Apparently, producers grew tired of Dash’s “bad attitude” and said she was “disrespectful” to cast and crew members.  Dash was fired from the movie and quickly replaced by Lela Rochon.

Production is supposed to wrap this week on the film, no word yet on the release date.
