Oprah Winfrey’s network, OWN is so pleased with its popular Saturday evening line-up that it has already ordered additional episodes for this summer and 2014.
According to Indie Wire, Iyanla Vanzant’s unscripted intervention series, “Iyanla: Fix My Life,” is returning July 20 with six new-episodes. This second season featured Vanzant doing her best to help rapper DMX as well as former RHOA Sheree Whitfied and her ex-Bob Whitfield with their dysfunctional lives.
Kim Whitley, baby Joshua and the rest of the “village” are returning in “Raising Whitley” with all new episodes beginning in early 2014. Also returning is “Life with LaToya,” the reality-series that follows the professional and private life of LaToya Jackson.
OWN president, Erik Logan, says these Saturday evening shows have attributed to the network’s overall growth. “We have seen tremendous ratings growth this year and much of that success is attributed to the performance of our Saturday night series. Our audience has truly embraced these shows and the stories told every week.”
Reportedly, all three shows were television’s top rated Saturday evening programs (non-sports) for African-American women. The shows also helped propel OWN to rank as the #1 ad supported cable network (non-sports) on Saturday night for African American women 25-54.
Kudos to all three programs and looking forward to the new episodes.
