Indie Wire is reporting that Oscar-winning actresses Jennifer Hudson and Octavia Spencer are tackling the issue of mental illness in the Lifetime original movie, Call Me Crazy: A Five Film.
The movie’s press release says, “Call Me Crazy: A Five Film brings together an all-star ensemble cast with five interwoven stories about how everlasting bonds of love and family can overcome life’s most challenging hurdles.”
Jennifer Hudson and Ernie Hudson will play father and daughter in “Maggie,” which centers on a female veteran who returns home only to deal with a war in her mind due to posttraumatic stress disorder. Spencer will star in “Lucy” as a psychotherapist, who helps a law student begin a path of healing after struggling with schizophrenia.

Call Me Crazy: A Five Film is executive produced by Jennifer Aniston, Marta Kauffman, Kristin Hahn, Kevin Chinoy and Francesca Silvestri, all of whom executive produced last year’s critically acclaimed Lifetime Original Movie Five.
“We are so proud to be a part of this powerful television event. To work with such amazingly talented directors, writers and actors, and for Lifetime to give us the opportunity to tackle such an important issue is nothing less than miraculous. We are extremely grateful to be able to shed even a little light on this topic, and we fervently hope that this is just the beginning of the mental health discussion in our country,” says Kauffman.
Call Me Crazy: A Five Film premieres on April 20th.
