Hold the applause! Not everyone is happy about Whitney Houston’s life being displayed on Lifetime, especially her family.
According to TMZ, the Houston clan is not pleased with Angela Bassett’s made-for-TV-film about Whitney’s marriage to ex-husband Bobby Brown. Reportedly, they feel a big screen project is more suitable and are considering filing a law suit against the network to halt production. Additionally, the family was says they were never on board for the project and would prefer to release their own film about Nippy, in the same vein of Michael Jackson’s This Is It.
“Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening, says Pat Houston, Whitney’s former manager and sister-in-law.
As previously reported, Bassett was using the project to make her directorial debut and was very excited about their story.
“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” said Bassett. “Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”
Houston died in 2012.
