Momentum continues to grow for Ava DuVernay’s upcoming film about Martin Luther King Jr. and the landmark voting rights campaign titled, Selma. The film stars Butler actor David Oyelowo as King and is being produced by Oprah Winfrey along with Brad Pitt’s Plan B.
DuVernay announced on Friday, the 46th anniversary of King’s assassination, that she had recruited noted filmmaker and collaborator Bradford Young to serve as Selma’s Director of Photographer.
Reportedly, DuVernay and Bradford worked together on her 2012 hit film Middle of Nowhere, which earned her an historic win as the first black woman to take home Sundance’s Best Director Award. Bradford is best known for his cinematic excellence on such groundbreaking films as Pariah, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and most recently, Mother of George.
Congrats to Ava and Brad!
