Taye Diggs and his wife, Idina Menzel are calling it quits after 10 years of what appeared to be marital bliss. The disappointing news was announced yesterday by their publicist.
“Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time,” reps for the couple said in a statement. “Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”
The two lovers first met in 1995 while performing together in the Broadway musical, RENT and then later wed in 2003. According to the L.A. Times, Diggs recently indicated that the couple’s marriage was “doing good” as they reached their 10-year- anniversary mark this summer despite rumors of infidelity.
Menzel, an accomplished actress and singer, is best known for her Tony-winning performance as Elphaba in Wicked and Diggs can currently be seen in theaters now in The Best Man Holiday. They are proud parents of one child, four-year-old Walker Nathaniel Diggs.
