Actress, comedian Kim Coles is now co-hosting “Are you normal, America?” along side Barry Poznick. The new game show premiered last night at 9 p.m. on OWN. The show will gauge just how normal society is by compiling research, polls and audience participation.
During her recent exclusive interview with JETmag.com she shared her ideas of normalcy in a manner which only she can do. A perfect blend of humor, knowledge and girl next door flavor will surely make this game show a hit. Here is her take on a few aspects of the show and OWN.
On the show’s concept…
“We question a cross-section of Americans and ask questions like is it normal to have lied to your doctor? It’s not normal by the way. Is it normal to have gone three days without showering? Guess what? It’s normal! Now it ain’t normal for you and me! So, here’s where I’m not normal. I shower twice a day.”
On what is normal for her…
“That’s a trick question because I think that I want to be normal in some ways and I want to be extraordinary in others. What I do for a living is not normal but I have the same normal dreams that anyone else does.”
On Oprah Winfrey being her boss…
“It’s really cool and it’s really an honor to work with a woman who is clearly one of the most influential people in the world. When she came to the set you could constantly feel her presence. She’s a very strong, very benevolent presence. It’s awe-inspiring. I stopped breathing at some point! And yet, she’s as familiar to you as your best friend.”
