Sheen Magazine kicked off its “Legendary Weekend” Friday evening with the “Shades of Blackness” Fashion Show. The fundraising event took place at the illustrious Marriott Marquis in Downtown Atlanta.
The annual fashion show was presented by the magazine in support of its publisher, Kim Chapman and her Chapman Foundation. The non-profit organization seeks to illuminate Breast Cancer awareness and prevention and raises scholarship dollars for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
This year’s show featured designs from a number of emerging African-American designers and fashion houses including Our Glass, Threaded Culture + looks from students attending The Art Institute of Atlanta (AIU) and Clark Atlanta University. This year’s celebrity designer included Project Runway alum Terri Stevens and her Funkin Beautiful Collection, which paid homage to Prince.
Celebrities spotted on the red carpet included reality star and fashion maven Marlo Hampton, Fashion Bomb Daily‘s Claire Sulmers, BMI Executive and Legendary Weekend honoree Catherine Brewton, former R&B Diva Meelah, actress and reality star Chrystale Wilson, TV and film star T.C. Carson, Saints & Sinners actress Reece Odum, Cutting It in the Atl‘s Mushiya Tshikuka, Married to Medicine‘s Genise Shelton, TV and film actor Dennis LA White, Kontrol Magazine’s Julian Lark, Kenya Freeman of Sylvia Mollie Fashions, Legendary Weekend honorees and beauty business icons James and Stephanie Bronner.
