CONGRATS to Survivor’s Remorse star Teyonah Parris. She will be starring as the lead in a new CBS pilot titled, Murder. According to S&A, the show is based on the popular BBC miniseries of the same name and is being described as follows:
“This new take on the investigative drama explores crime through the unique and often-conflicting perspectives of cops and killers, witnesses and victims, friends and family. Shot like a true-crime documentary, the series invites the audience inside the emotional journey of an investigation, allowing them to discern the truth and judge the suspects’ guilt or innocence for themselves.”
Parris will star as Detective Ayana Lake, who is described as “a rising star in the NYPD whose keen intellect and quick, analytic mind are the keys to her success. But when she’s partnered with instinctive intuitive Det. Jack Garrity styles and personalities sometimes clash.”
Parris has made quite an impression over the last few years. She became R&B singer Miki Howard in TV One’s original movie, Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story. She also starred in Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq and most recently appeared on Empire (She murdered that part, no pun intended). Her next role is in Barry Jenkins‘ film adaptation of James Baldwin‘s If Beale Street Could Talk.
Stay tuned…
