Playbill is reporting that Tony winning Broadway star Leslie Odom Jr. will take part in a star-studded musical tribute to jazz greats—Ella Fitzgerald and Dizzy Gillespie—on July 19 at the legendary Hollywood Bowl. The event is titled “Ella and Dizzy: 100 Years, 1000 Memories.”

Odom will add his voice to the evening’s already spectacular lineup that includes Andra Day, Lizz Wright, Regina Carter, Jane Monheit and music legend, Patrice Rushen. The band will also features such jazz heavyweights as Jon Faddis, Billy Childs, Charles McPherson, Lewis Nash and Peter Washington.

Odom’s Hollywood Bowl performance is part of his summer/fall tour that begins this week (July 15) and includes stops in New York, Washington D.C., Seattle and Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse on August 12.  He will also be starring in the upcoming film, “Murder on the Orient Express.” It opens in theaters nationwide on November 10.
