The city of Detroit “put some respect” on Aretha Franklin‘s name recently by honoring the legendary entertainer with her very own street.  “Aretha Franklin Way” was unveiled before a crowd of fans and long time supporters and the sight of the illuminating green sign bought the Queen of Soul to tears.

According to the video, Franklin’s name will now appear on a portion of Madison Avenue. Ms. Franklin is without a doubt very deserving of this honor and joins a number of stars who have roads and highways named after them.

I had the pleasure of being present when Atlanta’s own Gladys Knight received her own highway from the state of Georgia.  All Hail The Queen!
