Music mogul Jermaine Dupri is hitting the road this May with Live Nation and Scream Nation for the “SoSoSUMMER 17 Tour” featuring the winners and cast members from his hugely popular reality music competition, “The Rap Game.”
The big news was announced on Wednesday evening during a press conference at TopGolf Atlanta that was hosted by Dupri and his father and CEO of Scream Nation, Michael Mauldin. Also joining Dupri for the announcement was platinum-selling hip hop star and “Dish Nation” co-host Da Brat.
The “SoSoSUMMER 17” is part of a 20-city tour that will begin on May 25 in Louisville, KY and end on June 25 in Dallas, TX with stops in other major cities including Baltimore, Cleveland, Charlotte, Washington D.C. , New York City and of course…the ATL. The tour will feature Season 1 and 2 winners—Miss Mulatto and Mani—along with other “Rap Game” cast members like Nia K, JI (Prince of New York), Lil’ Key, Supa Peach, King Roscoe, Nova and Deetranada.
“As the producer of Jermaine Dupri Presents: SoSoSummer 17 Tour, we are excited to be on the forefront of such a ground breaking youth & family oriented movement. This type of tour promotes the next generation of Young Stars and serves an audience that is often overlooked in the urban and pop music genres, and we are proud to be a part of it,” said Mauldin in a statement.
In addition to the tour, Dupri also announced that many of the young rappers will be releasing some long awaited new music each week as they travel from city to city.
Dupri’s “The Rap Game” debuted on Lifetime in January of 2015 and after three seasons the series has introduced to the world 15 young stars and crowned two winners. The third season of “The Rap Game” is currently airing on Fridays at 10 p.m. with the season three-winner set to be announced on April 7, 2017.
