Atlanta’s own Black Women Film Network (BWFN) will present its annual “Untold Stories Awards Luncheon” this Friday, March 3 at the beautiful Atlanta Marriott Marquis.  This year’s invitation only event will recognize iconic TV and film actress Tichina Arnold along with her “Survivor’s Remorse” co-star Teyonah Parris.  Tyler Perry Studios President and Vice President Ozzie and Will Areu will also pick up awards along with veteran Atlanta broadcast journalist Donna Lowery.

Hollywood power couple, Salli Richardson Whitfield and her husband and star of OWN’s “Queen Sugar,” Dondre Whitfield, will also be honored for promoting positive images of Black love and family throughout their careers.

The “Untold Stories” Awards Luncheon is part of the three-day Black Women Film Summit taking place March 2-4. It kicks-off Thursday, March 2 at the Center for Civil and Human Rights with a screening of FOX’s new drama “Shots Fired,” created by Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood.  The final day of the Summit is Saturday, March 4 at Atlanta Technical College, which will include Black Women Film Festival screenings and is presented in partnership with Bronzelens Film Festival — from 12p – 3pm.

There will also be a BWFN Book Festival from 12 pm -2 pm and will feature a number of notable authors including  former LaFace senior director of marketing Sheri Riley, author of Exponential Living® – Stop Spending 100% of Your Time on 10% of Who You Are as well as media maven Karyn Greer and her book, I Am A Mother.

ChooseATL will present a panel discussion at 3pm entitled “Secrets from the Set: Showrunners, Writers, Actresses Take You Behind the Scenes of Hit TV Shows & Films Produced in Atlanta.” There will also be workshops on kids acting, stand-up comedy, auditioning, casting and social media.
