Issa Rae Productions has released the trailer for a new digital series titled, “GIANTS.” The show is set to premiere on Wednesday, January 25 at 8 p.m. on Rae’s YouTube Channel.  The Golden-Globe nominated actress, writer, producer and “Insecure” star Issa Rae serves as executive producer along with “Empire” star Jussie Smollett.  “GIANTS” is created by writer, director and actor James Bland.

“GIANTS” is a scripted drama digital series starring Bland, along with child star Vanessa Baden Kelly (“Kenan & Kel,” “Rosewood”) and newcomer Sean Samuels. The show follows three Black millennials nearing the end of their 20s. As they approach age 30, each battle their own inner giants as tougher obstacles of adulthood await. The stakes have never been higher. “GIANTS” takes things a step further than the typical coming of age story by pushing new boundaries of very real issues including mental health, sexual identity, religious skepticism and grave methods of economic survival.

“GIANTS explores social issues that are either ignored or stigmatized by the Black community,” says Bland. “And regardless of race, these characters’ experiences are relatable to almost anyone because they learn the hard way that when life kicks your ass, you either lie down or fight back.”

“GIANTS” is the newest and the first series of the year to join a collection of diverse content featured on Rae’s YouTube channel. Since premiering her award-winning comedic web series, “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl” in 2011, the channel has exploded with 240,000 subscribers and over 50 million views collectively across all content.
