Deadline is reporting that actresses Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett-Smith are in talks to star in a new film for 2017 titled “Girl Trip.” It’s set to be released for July 21, and will be directed by Malcolm Lee and produced by Will Packer.
The movie is being described as follows: “Four friends who travel to New Orlean’s Essence Festival, where sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, with some drinking, romancing and even brawling thrown in for good measure.”
Regina Hall is also set to star in the film with the script being written by “black-ish” creator Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver.
This will be the first time Latifah and Pinkett-Smith have starred together on the big screen since their 1996 classic film, “Set It Off.”
