This year’s Pink Awards was hosted by media personalities Satchel B. Jester and Ebony Steele, who is an eight year breast cancer survivor. Other evening highlights included powerful testimonies from two breast cancer survivors as well as a few musical performances including The Voice singer VEDO. Guests were also served a variety of healthy treats, organic desserts and cocktails.
April Love sharing her survivor’s story
In December of 2009, April Love received a diagnosis that changed her life drastically. She was informed on Christmas Eve of that year that she had Stage 3 breast cancer. Today, she is blessed to proudly say that she is a 6-year cancer survivor and uses her testimony and platform to bring awareness to breast cancer.
According to the research conducted by Susan G. Komen, breast cancer claims a life every 74 seconds. This aggressive disease not only affects the lives of those diagnosed with it, but it takes a toll on their families as well. For this reason, The Pink Awards dedicated a portion of the evening proceeds to breast cancer survivors in need.
