Some of the biggest names in African-American entertainment were honored over the weekend at The Sister Accord Foundation Leadership Tea Party & Awards Ceremony. This year’s event put a deserving spotlight on 10 celebrity women for their hard work and dedication to their professional careers and their efforts within the community.

The Sister Accord Foundation is a non profit that encourages young women to become great leaders and is focused on positive, supportive and meaningful-relationships among young girls to stop the violence (self-inflicted or otherwise) that is rapidly plaguing our communities. The organization was founded by Sonia Jackson Myles, author of The Sister Accord: 51 Ways To Love Your Sister. Myles also served as this year’s host.

Celebrity honorees included actresses Wendy Raquel Robinson (BET “The Game”), Elise Neal (Hollywood Divas) and Bresha Webb (NBC’s Truth Be Told). Music divas Shanice (OWN “Flex & Shanice”), Terry Elise (En Vogue) and Shelia E. (Renowned Drummer/Percussionist) were also recognized along with journalists Nichelle Turner (Entertainment Tonight), Nina Parker (Access Hollywood) and Adrienne Bankert (Channel 7 Los Angeles).
The theme for the Tea Party was “Your Time To feel Special” and brought together a group of 50 high school aged young ladies, from across the city and suburbs of Los Angeles, along with 50 adult women mentors. The honorees also participated in the Power Panels with the students.

“Empowering young women, one at a time, through partners like The Sister Accord, will allow us to build future women leaders for Corporate America, Entrepreneurship and our communities. This enables a global impact, which sustains a leadership legacy,” said Karmetria Burton, Director, Delta Air Lines.
