Oprah Winfrey is stepping back in front of the camera for a reoccurring role in her network’s upcoming megachurch drama, The Greeleafs.  The show, which is currently being shot in Atlanta, debuts Sunday, October 18 at 8 p.m.

As previously reported, The Greenleafs is being described as a “multigenerational matrix of deception that involves the church’s founding family, The Greenleafs, but also extends to the congregation and prominent members of the Memphis, TN community and beyond.”

Veteran screen actor, Keith David will star as Bishop James Greenleaf alongside Lynn Whitfield as ‘Lady Mae.’ Merle Dandridge will star as ‘Grace,’ Mae’s estranged daughter and preacher and Desiree Ross as Grace’s teenage daughter, ‘Sophia.’ Lamman Rucker, will portray the Bishop’s son, ‘Jacob Greenleaf,’ along with Kim Hawthorne, who will star as his wife, ‘Kerrisa Greenleaf.’ Deborah Joy Winans will portray, ‘Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee,’ the youngest daughter of the Bishop and Lady Mae and the church’s Minister of Music.

In addition to starring as ‘Mavis McCready,’ the sister of ‘Lady Mae,’ Winfrey will also serve as one of the show’s executive producers.
