The African American Film Critics Association (AFFCA) will honor The Swirl Entertainment Group’s Eric Tomosunas and Brett Dismuke during the organization’s 4th Annual SYNERGY – Atlanta reception.
Known for its tremendous output of independent films (“35 & Ticking, “Church Girl” and “24-Hour Love” among others), The Swirl Entertainment Group has contributed widely to growth of the cinema community throughout the southeast. Previous recipients of this award include Tirrell Whitley and Nick Nelson, Principal Partners at Liquid Soul Media (2012), Charles Humbard, CEO of UPTV (2013) and filmmaker, Roger M .Bobb (2014). The award will be formally presented during AAFCA’s invitation-only SYNERGY-ATL reception on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Northern Trust in Buckhead.
AAFCA is the premiere African American film critics association in the United States, with a membership comprised of the nation’s leading black film journalists. The organization produces The AAFCA EXPERIENCE – a 3-day event that culminates with the AAFCA Awards annually during the Hollywood Awards Season. SYNERGY is another signature event from the organization that was created to recognize the growing film community in the southeast.
“We are thrilled to present our 4th annual event in the Atlanta market,” says AAFCA’s founder and President Gil Robertson. “The city has grown into a significant player in the world of TV and film production and through SYNERGY we salute the people who are making this happen. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where entertainment professionals in this region can meet, mix and mingle with their peers to plant the seeds of opportunity for themselves and others. ”
