The highly anticipated 2015 Funk Fest Tour landed in Atlanta to perform for two sold out nights at the beautiful Wolf Creek Amphitheatre located in South Atlanta. 5, 000 music fans per night attended Funk Fest to see some of R&B’s hottest performers and experience some special moments featuring reunions of 2 Live Crew, Floetry and 8Ball and MJG making Funk Fest 2015 the “must attend” music festival of the southeast. Funk Fest was jam-packed with headliners including: R. Kelly, Erykah Badu, Doug E. Fresh and Floetry. A surprise cameo caused the crowd to go wild when R&B crooner Keith Sweat made an impromptu appearance and performed during the Doug E. Fresh performance.
In addition to bringing world –class entertainment to Atlanta, Variety Entertainment/Funk Fest announced its commitment to give back to the communities that support the festival by awarding $5,000 in college scholarships. Two Atlanta students were awarded $2500.00 each as a part of a community partnership with Lifting As We Climb and Pepsi and Walmart “We are extremely proud to return to Atlanta for Funk Fest. We can always rely on support from Atlanta and it is our pleasure to give back to this great city” said Leo Bennett, CEO of Variety Entertainment.
The remaining dates of the Funk Fest 2015 concert season will feature a unique mix of current chart toppers and familiar names from the ‘80s and ‘90s including the reunions of Jodeci, 2 Live Crew and Blackstreet:
June 6 – Mobile, Ala.: Bell Biv Devoe, Doug E. Fresh, Cameo, 2 Live Crew and Salt & Pepa
June 20 – Columbia, S.C.:Bell Biv Devoe, Blackstreet (featuring Teddy Riley and Dave Hollister), Mint Condition, Jodeci, Demetria McKinney and 2 Live Crew (featuring Brother Marquis, Fresh Kid Ice and Uncle Luke).
