BET’s half-hour dramedy, The Game  will end its long run in 2015 after long nine seasons. According to THR, the show’s creator’s Salim and Mara Brock Akil are most proud of the series’ influence on popular culture and the rich, television legacy the show will leave behind.

“I’m really proud of the look of our show, that we took a multicam budget and turned it into a single-camera show,” Mara Brock Akil said in an interview on BET.com after the announcement. “Its look, its tone, its approach, the characters’ development — that, yes, we were a half-hour comedy but we used our moments to deepen the characters. We also offered drama in a half-hour space. And that was my own personal desire, but it was also reflective of what the audience has been wanting, which is more well-rounded, deeper, richer, layered characters, and they got that in The Game.”

The Game  is originally a spin-off from the Akil’s other series, Girlfriends  and  features Wendy Raquel Robinson, Brandy Norwood, Hosea Chanchez, Lauren London, Coby Bell and Brittany Daniel. The Real’s  Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall were a part of the original cast when the show debut in 2006.  The Game is currently filming in Atlanta.
