Aretha Franklin is declaring war!

The legendary ‘Queen of Soul’ is suing the website, and its CEO, Kato Leonard, over a story that it published about her being ‘physically attacked’ by veteran R&B singer Patti LaBelle during a recent concert in Atlanta.  According to the story, Labelle was arrested after hitting Franklin “Mayweather style causing the72-year-old singer to stumble and fall, landing awkwardly.”

Although the site has a disclaimer stating that it’s ‘purely satirical,’ Ms. Franklin didn’t find the story amusing and is suing for $10 million.

“The stories were not presented as satire or humor,” says Franklin. “It was presented as a serious news story intended to depict me in a slanderous and derogatory way—defamation of character.”

Reportedly, Franklin released a statement earlier this week regarding the false story but now feels that she needs to pursue legal action against them.

What are your thoughts? Should Ms. Franklin sue or just laugh it off?
