Guess who’s back?
MTV is reporting that Kanye West will take the stage this year at the 2013 Video Music Awards. The rapper is scheduled to perform the single “Black Skinhead” from his controversial new album, Yeezus. The performance will mark West’s seventh VMA appearance, tying him with the reigning Queen of Pop, Madonna.
As previously reported, the show will take place on August 25 from the newly opened Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. This is the first time the VMA’s have been in New York since 2009. The show has been held in various other cities and venues such as Manhattan, Las Vegas and LA’s Staple Center and Nokia Theatre.
In March, MTV president Stephen Friedman was very excited about the show’s return to New York and what it meant for the Brooklyn community.
“From a vibrant musical scene for up-and-coming artists to epic concerts by today’s biggest stars and the triumphant return of pro sports to the borough after nearly 60 years, Brooklyn has re-emerged as a cultural capital where music, sports and entertainment history is made every day.”
RC will keep you posted as more performers and presenters for the show will be revealed in the coming weeks.
