In March we reported that female R&B group, SWV was coming to WEtv in a new reality-series chronicling their musical comeback.
Well today, WEtv announced that Sisters with Voices will debut in early 2014. According to Deadline, the network has already ordered six one-hour episodes of the unscripted series. As previously reported the show will highlight the group’s resurgence in music, the off-stage dynamics between the ladies, showcase their personal lives and explore why the group broke up in the first place.
According to WEtv’s senior vice president of original production and development, Lauren Gilbert, the network is excited to present the new series. “The journey of SWV is the kind of real and personal comeback story our viewers love to see. These dynamic women experienced enormous success together, and then it all fell apart. United again, the stakes are higher than ever, and so—at times—is the drama and tension. We can’t wait to present this fresh, new series to WE TV viewers.”
Cheryl “Coko” Clemons, Leanne “Lelee” Lyons and Tamara “Taj” Johnson better known as SWV, were one of the most successful R&B trios of the New Jack Swing era and released such hits records as “Weak,” I’m So Into You,” and “Right Here/Human Nature.” Sisters with Voices will be executive produced by Kate Ferrell.
