Former American Idol winner, Ruben Studdard is reaching out to another reality show for some assistance. The “Velvet Teddy Bear” is joining NBC’s hit reality series, The Biggest Loser to help him control his weight problem.
According to THR, Studdard gained a considerable amount of pounds after he divorce his wife, Surata Zuri in 2012 after just three years of marriage. Studdard claims this is the first time he’s really had to deal with his out of control weight.
“I’ve never had an issue with my weight,” Studdard previously told Billboard. “[But] my family has a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart-related issues — things I didn’t have to deal with yet because I’m young. But I don’t want to be worried at 40, and if I don’t fix things now, I will be.”
Look for Studdard to compete on the 15th installment of the show this fall.
