Percy Daggs III has a lot to be thankful for these days. The actor was recently informed by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas that he will be reprising his role as Wallace Fennel, the best friend of Kristen Bell’s title character, in the upcoming film based on the former CW series.
Reportedly, Thomas raised more than 5.7 million for the film project through a Kickstarter campaign that began last March and ended mid-April. Production for the movie, which is supposed to provide closure to story lines and character arcs, is slated to begin this summer with a projected early 2014 release. If you recall, Veronica Mars was set in the fictional town of Neptune, California and starred Bell as a student who progresses from high school to college while moonlighting as a private investigator under the tutelage of her detective father.
This isn’t the first cancelled CW show that is looking to make a comeback. Last March, RC reported about Girlfriend’s creator Mara Brock Akil tweeted fans about a possible Kickstart campaign for a movie version of that show. No word yet on whether that project is moving forward but fans of the show are remaining hopeful.
Check out Daggs reaction to the Mars casting news along with a very sincere ‘thank you’ to all of his fans:
