TV One was not lying when it promised viewers a double dose of drama for the second season of R&B Divas. The highly anticipated reality-series premiered last night with some brand new faces and some of the first season divas “doin the absolute most.” In fact, the tension between singers Syleena Johnson and Nicci Gilbert is so real that each one hosted their own premiere party at two separate venues in Atlanta.
The first party featured Johnson and the newest divas, Angie Stone and former Xscape star, LaTocha Scott. Held at The Harlem Night’s club, all three ladies arrived in style and looked absolutely amazing together. They posed for the cameras and mingled with guests as if they were entertaining “old friends” at a house party. The show played on big screens throughout the club with popular tunes from each ‘diva’ playing in between commercial breaks.
A number of their celebrity friends were in attendance including YouTube sensation Funky Dineva, former Destiny’s Child member LaTavia Roberson, For Better or Worse stars Michael Jai White and Kent Faulcon, The Kandi Factory’s Don Vito and HGTV star Egypt Sherrod with husband DJ Fadelf.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town was the second party that was reportedly hosted by Keke Wyatt, Nicci Gilbert and Monifah. Unfortunately, by the time I arrived to The Museum Bar, KeKe Wyatt was the only remaining diva. Of course, her husband and “un-official” diva Michael Ford was there by her side. Also spotted in the building were Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta’s Mimi Faust, DJ Traci Steele, and DJ Babey Drew along with RHOA’s Peter Thomas and former RHOA Lisa Wu.
